The Personal Safety and Social Responsibility (PSSR) course is also a part of the mandatory basic offshore safety training for all seafarers assigned safety or pollution prevention duties. Its objectives are to give basic induction training in safety procedures and accident prevention and to familiarise personnel with the employment conditions and working environment on board vessels.

Module 1: Introduction to Maritime Safety and Social Responsibility

Understanding the importance of safety and social responsibility at sea.

Overview of international regulations and conventions (e.g., STCW Convention).

The role of the individual in maintaining safety and social responsibility.

Module 2: Shipboard Safety Procedures

Familiarization with different types of vessels and their safety features.

Emergency procedures, including muster stations, lifeboats, and life rafts.

Fire prevention and firefighting equipment and procedures.
